Audi has always strived to deliver an elevated driving experience by delivering higher fuel efficiency along with greater comfort levels. And it appears that the German car maker is set to raise the bar once again because it is all set to launch the hybrid car model of a redesigned Audi RS7. Marc Lichte, Audi's head of design, has confirmed that the hybrid variant will be launched along with a non-hybrid version in 2018. The hybrid powertrain system has been borrowed from Porsche’s Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and it promises to pack the hybrid variant with 700 horsepower. The speed of the hybrid model is comparable to Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid that can rocket to a speed of 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. Moreover, the hybrid Audi RS7 is capable of being driven at a topmost speed of 190 mph.
The upcoming launch will see Audi battling it out with major competitors like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Mercedes, McLaren and Pagani. This means that Audi will need to create a niche for itself in the elite ‘700 Horsepower’ segment.
With no pricing details available, Audi’s hybrid car is touted to be priced from $113,900 onwards. Relying on a competitive pricing strategy will help Audi gain an edge over its competitors who attach hefty price tags to their sports cars.
Besides having a powerful bolstering engine, the hybrid variant will have the latest version of the ‘Audi Virtual Cockpit’ for a semi-autonomous driving experience.
To add to this, the car comes with gesture control, voice control, massaging seat, additional headroom and a design that is inspired by Prologue Concept. The news about the hybrid variant has caused quite a stir and it remains to be seen whether the new variant will help Audi strengthen its foothold in the luxury car market.
